How do i know if my speakers are faulty?

The bass speakers and mids have design faults. Sadly, the glue used was of very poor quality and reacts badly to damp, which causes it to go brittle and come away from the raw aluminium basket (frame).

To diagnose the bass unit (woofer), play a bass-rich song and turn the treble down and bass up should show a bass fault. If you hear a rattle or popping noise, then you have issues that need addressing.

Yes is the simple answer, just lie the speaker cab on its back, then remove the 8 screws holding the unit in and carefully lift it upward, being careful not to pull on the cables too much and simply pull off the red and black wire spade connector and take it out.

NB. Do not rest the speaker face down! The cone should not be touched or pressed in. Also, remember which spades the wires were on (polarity).

Well, if in the UK you have the choice to simply replace it by means of PX for a new one (recommended), or you can send your unit to us at either Birmingham or Pembrokeshire for repair.

Replacements are best in pairs for E50 and 90 or all 4 if you have E-90s.

If exchanging your old units for new we offer £20 part exchange on each you send us however you must pay postage to send to us and they must be packed a certain way (we advise prior) on midrange we also offer old for new px and offer £10 off per mid so long as the plastic mesh is in tact and in good order.

Most of our customers are in NZ, USA and Canada, so no problem, you can do an international transfer with no additional costs or pay PayPal at 15% additional overall cost, you can even send your currency by post (tracked) and we’ll exchange it in the UK.

We pack very well and send on a fast service, so 7-9 days is average from the time of payment.

It is reported that not only are the aesthetics better, but owners notice a tighter bass note and precise sound on the woofers. The mids have massively improved definition and no longer produce that scratchy sound the originals gave. On the whole, a sweeter and more powerful animal!

Of course! It takes around 2 minutes to swap each unit over (8 screws and 2 push-on spades for the bass and you can either use spades for the new mids or solder wires on directly.

This is highly unlikely and has never happened; however, if you’re not entirely happy, then return the unit as received for a full refund.

No, modern speakers since around 1990 started using pressed steel baskets, which are a tad lighter yet still strong; they have zero effect on the sound quality, they only house the components after all.

The magnets are smaller also, as they are strontium, which are extremely powerful yet light, which enables us to post more cheaply to overseas customers!

No, these are modern and more predictable polypropylene cones; they are light, and the reproduction qualities are superb. Also, they are UV and water resistant, ideal for messy parties!

Prior to the unfortunate factory fire, we purchased much of the original stock and stored it for many years, offering this service. As this is a long-term interest and love for this speaker range, the profit margins are very low, with the aim being to keep the range alive and in service.
